The rat in an Orange County attic is almost always a roof rat. They climb: palms, ivy, citrus, the cable line, then in through an attic vent or the gap where the air-conditioning line enters. Trapping alone does not fix it. Sealing the way in does.

How to tell
- Scratching or scurrying in the ceiling or walls after dark, especially in the first hour after lights out.
- Droppings about half an inch long with pointed ends, in the garage, the attic, or under the sink.
- Oranges, avocados, or lemons hollowed out on the tree, peel left behind.
What we do about it
Step 1: Inspect
We find every way in: attic and roof vents, the roof-to-wall junction, the gap under the garage door, the air-conditioning line penetration, the sewer vent.
Step 2: Trap
Snap traps in the attic, checked within 48 hours. We do not use poison inside the house, so nothing dies in a wall.
Step 3: Seal
Hardware cloth and sealant on every entry point. This is the part that makes it stick, and the part most companies skip.
Step 4: Monitor
Tamper-resistant exterior stations for Shield plan customers, checked every visit.
