Ants in the kitchen, again.
Almost every ant trail in Orange County is Argentine ants. They nest under slabs, in planters, and inside block walls, and one colony can stretch across several yards. That is why the spray from the hardware store works for a week and then they are back in a new spot.

How to tell
- A single-file trail along the counter, the baseboard, or the dishwasher edge.
- They show up after the first rain, or during a heat wave, and vanish for a while between.
- Killing the ones you see brings more within a day. Repellent sprays split the colony into new nests.
What we do about it
Step 1: Inspect
We follow the trails back to where they come in, then outside to the nest. It is usually the slab edge, a planter against the house, or the block wall.
Step 2: Treat
A non-repellent perimeter treatment the ants walk through and carry back, plus gel bait inside where the trail runs. Nothing is sprayed on your counters.
Step 3: Seal
We caulk the gap at the slider track or the plumbing penetration under the sink if that is the door they are using.
Step 4: Follow up
Trails are usually gone within three days. On the Shield plan we come back every 90 days, before the barrier weathers.
